Our worship team

The Rev. Jesús Reyes

Rector

Fr. Reyes retired March 31, 2024. He will be our Interim Priest while we search for a new Rector.
Canon Reyes planted La Iglesia de Santa Maria in the Diocese of Virginia, 2004. For 10 years prior he did Social Work in the Alexandria, VA area. 

Prior to that Canon Reyes was a missionary in the Roma Catholic Church. He worked in the mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, ministering six Zapoteco communities. He also did missionary work in Brazil where he lived for about five years. Canon Reyes served the Episcopal Church as a member of the Presiding Bishop’s Strategic Cabinet on the Jesus Movement and Evangelism; served as member of the Latino/Hispanic Council of Advice; was a member of the Disciplinary Board for Bishops; Team Leader of the Spanish CREDO Team; and he continues to work with the Way of Love Working Group and is a member of grant readers team supporting the work of The Episcopal Church’s Task Force on Church Planting and Congregational Redevelopment. 

The Rev. Lynette Poulton Kamakura

DEACON

Lynette Poulton Kamakura was ordained a Deacon on October 7, 2023, and was assigned by our Bishop to serve here at St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas. 
A retired Foreign Service Officer, Lynette has spent many years living and working overseas, giving her a passion for immigrant and refugee issues. She is also an experienced negotiator and mediator, bringing these skills to her diaconal work in community reconciliation.

Lynette loves languages, and can converse in English, Spanish, French and Russian.
She is married to Yasuhiko Kamakura, a lawyer with the International Labor Office.

The Rev. Elise Astleford

Associate Priest

Elise was ordained Deacon in 1976, and Priest in 1985 after a year’s theology study in Cambridge, England. She served as chaplain at Good Samaritan Hospital and Chaplain at OES during the Mt. Hood tragedy. She came to Clark County in 1987 as first vicar of Holy Spirit, Battle Ground. She retired 15 years later when their building was complete with the cooperation of 8 churches, 400 volunteers and 7,000 hours of labor with Joe Astleford as Project Manager.
Rev. Astelford’s life has been blessed with adventure. She served as a priest for the laying on of hands at the first ordination of women priests in the Church of England. She has climbed Mt. Schleiniz, Mt. Hood and Mt. Sinai. Her sabbatical, “Artas Pilgrimage,” took her to tiny Grayling, AK on the Yukon River to Washington DC.
The touchstone of her life is Ephesians 3:20. “Glory to God whose power working in us can do more than we can ask or imagine.”
Her relationship with SL2 began when she served as youth leader in 1991. The congregation has warmly welcomed her and her husband. For them it is a homecoming.

Wren Scott

Interim Office Mgr.

 Wren Scott has been a member of St. Luke’s San Lucas (SL2) since Aug of 2022. They have graciously offered to step in as an interim office manager until June 2023. 

Susan Dale

Kid's & Family

A member of St Luke’s San Lucas (SL2) since 1987, Susan is trained in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and Godly Play, the latter being the curriculum being taught at SL2. She also directs the Creation Camp Summer Program. Her highest priority is to ensure families and children know they are valued, loved and included in our church community.

Janet Butler

Asst Treasurer

Janet and her husband arrived in Vancouver in April of 2008 from Watsonville, CA.  Janet says this seemed like this was a good place to spend their retirement.  They came for Easter service in 2009, fell in love with the Church and people, and been here ever since.
She was offered the job as Assistant Treasurer in 2011 when Muriel McNamara retired. Her job is to manage the financial activities of the parish including income and revenue, expense and distributions, payroll, and taxes. The financial office is to ensure that parish’s financial operations are in accordance with national and diocesan canons, the parish by-laws and state and federal laws. Also, to keep track of all deposits and withdrawals to the parish bank accounts and assures alignment to parish budget documents.

Jordan Nylander

Music director

joined St. Luke’s ~ San Lucas for the welcome back weekend in September. The choir sings hymns, Psalms and anthems each week.  The bilingual music team provides music to our bilingual services and other special services such as dia de los muertos and the Christmas Eve pageant.  The handbell choir played a fun and beautiful rendition of “Carol of the bells” and will be preparing to accompany the Easter church service. Additionally, I’ve been working on composing and arranging pieces for our services. our family has enjoyed getting to know the congregation. Contact: SL2.MusicDir@gmail.com

Kathy Gallaher

Senior Warden

Kathy has been a member of St Luke’s San Lucas (SL2) since 2011.
She spent many years in a health care setting. Her organizational and consensus building skills are truly an asset in her role as Senior Warden. Kathy says knowing how to be a good, empathetic listener is one of the secrets to her success. 

Ken Dale

Treasurer

Ken Dale keeps an eagle eye on the financials. Carefully monitoring income and spending so that SL2 is able to fulfill its mission.

Pam Gunn

clerk of the vestry

Pam serves as the clerk of the vestry.  She is responsible for official minutes for all the vestry meetings.  She also manages the Library Ministry and volunteers with the Thursday Crew.
Pam has attended St. Luke’s San Lucas for 16 years.  She is a retired RN and Nurse Practitioner. She also leads free birding tours at Fort Vancouver.  Beginners are always welcome to come along and learn about birds and nature.

Riversong Scott

Junior warden

Since coming to SL2 in 2022, Riversong has signed up to be a Lay Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at the Health Fair. Previously Riversong served as a Jr Warden at an Episcopal Church in Idaho. A nurse in professional life, Riversong brings time management, empathy and interpersonal skills to the vestry. 

Don Lawry

Co Senior Warden

Don has attended St Lukes/San Lucas since the early ’90s, and during that time has served on the vestry three times, served as a lay reader/eucharistic minister, and served as a youth group leader.  His education includes a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Education and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. He currently works in area schools with disadvantaged youth and families.  He and his wife Junelle first met at St Luke’s and were married at a Sunday morning service in 2004.

Ken Dunham

Ken Dunham was elected to the St. Luke’s/San Lucas Episcopal Church vestry in 2024. This is the 5th Episcopal church in which he has been a member of the Vestry as his professional career brought him to different communities.

He has also been the treasurer of the Episcopal Diocese of Montana, a consultant for church planned to give twice a delegate to the national convention of the Episcopal Church.

He and his wife, Janelle Fallan, moved to Vancouver in 2023.  He retired in 2020 after 17 years as the executive director and lobbyist for a regional lumber industry trade association. He has had similar positions with construction trade associations in Montana, Washington and Illinois. His experience also includes ownership of a regional advertising/public relations firm, political party management and consulting, and as a television news director and on-air personality. He is a graduate of the University of Montana and a native of the small logging town of Troy, Montana.

He and Janelle have two children and four grandchildren. They will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in July.

Marjorie Burgher

outreach liaison

Marjorie has attended church with her parents for the last 25 years. She became an official member last year. Her sister, Mom and Marjorie have attended every Sunday since the church reopened to live services. Before retirement she worked for a manufacturing company. Marjorie brings enthusiasm and determination to the vestry.

Hannah Femling

Music & Liturgy

Hannah is a member of the choir and Hand Chimes groups and is a captivating soloist. She grew up in the church, was in choristers, youth group and was an acolyte captain. She works as a software engineer and brings a youthful perspective to the vestry.
